Winning the Internet

Friday Linx: Christmas tree edition

After a great run, the Winning the Internet blog has been retired. However, you can still keep in touch with New Media Mentors here.

Friday Linx will be a recurring feature on our blog. We’re aiming to bring you a collection of links worth a read and cute cat video to ease you into the weekend.

Onto the links!

New Twitter isn’t really news any more, but this piece by M&R Research Labs provides a little bit more than a rundown of features, it’s got usage advice too. And brand pages for non-profits are on the way soon, there’s a few that are testing them now if you’d like to check them out.

This week Fission Strategy posted about an interesting Facebook project they worked on with NRDC. And speaking of Facebook, if you’re a Constant Contact user then you’ll want to check this new app out. Conversion of Facebook fans to email is important and hopefully more providers follow suit.

When you’re thinking about your success with new media one thing to keep in mind is technology. Zero Divide talks about some things to think about when making the assessment and why that matters.

Related, Google Analytics now lets you measure your average site speed and the speed of specific pages. That’s important to search engine crawlers and visitor perception for starters, and it’s usually a pretty easy tune up for your tech team to make.

Happy Holidays to you and yours from the NF team!
