More Facebook changes are coming! According to Ad Age, Facebook will start placing ads in user news feeds in January. Currently Facebook’s “Sponsored Stories” ads are confined to the right side of the screen. With this change, Sponsored Stories will appear in line with updates from friends.
As Cotton Delo writes:
Sponsored stories in the news feed will be the same size as other items appearing in the stream and will be identifiable by a link that reads “Sponsored” below the post. Users who mouse over the link will see the following text: “This was already shared with you. A sponsor paid to feature it here.”
This change will likely lead to higher click rates for advertisers, but could also lead to backlash from users. We’re curious to see how this will work for nonprofit organizations advertising on Facebook. If you give it a try, let us know how it worked for you.
